Last time — it seems a long time ago — our examination of Gyorgy Lukacs’ remarkable, untranslated “Grand Hotel Abyss” had gotten us to the antechambers of this prize piece of cultural real estate.

You’ll remember that we’d climbed up out of our rightful indignation that Lukacs, an intellectual himself, should dare to consider critically the social and economic position of intellectuals, even situating them as producers of ideology within the wider division of labor.
